A nourishing bowl with deep roots in Japanese comfort food, our Shiitake Furikake Donburi brings together the savoury soul of sushi rice with the umami-rich character of our shiitake and oyster mushrooms. All topped with a bold furikake seasoning—a textured blend of roasted seaweed, sesame seeds, bonito flakes, shiitake mushrooms and shiso leaf. Just follow Chef Nat’s easy instructions to enjoy a comforting meal that’s layered in flavour, light in effort, and endlessly customizable.

In a pot, bring 2 ¾ cups of water to a boil. Remove the Furikake Seasoning packet from the pouch and add the remaining contents to boiling water. Cover the pot with a lid and reduce heat to simmer for 20 min. Remove pot from burner and let sit for 5 min. Open the Furikake Seasoning packet and remove the desiccant. Sprinkle evenly over rice and serve.
Rice Cooker: Remove the Furikake Seasoning packet from the pouch and add the remaining contents to the rice cooker. Add 2 ½ cups of water to the rice mixture and stir to distribute ingredients. Cook on ‘sushi rice’ setting for the pre-set amount of time (Usually 60 min). Open the Furikake Seasoning packet and remove the desiccant. Sprinkle evenly over rice and serve.
Optional: Serve with choice of Protein.
Tip: Use a portion of Furikake Seasoning as a dry rub for your chosen Protein.
