Our Story
Welcome to Mushroom Meadows—where our love for agriculture, community, and the fascinating world of fungi drives everything we do.
What began as a personal passion project has blossomed into a thriving mushroom farm with two locations, a diverse range of offerings, and a growing reputation for excellence. Today, we proudly serve both individuals and wholesale customers—from local restaurants to fellow farmers.
Founded by Geoffrey and Richard Norton, our journey was sparked by an inspiring encounter at the Green Living Show, where a farmer introduced us to the art of growing oyster mushrooms on hardwood logs. That moment planted a seed that has grown into something much greater.
Rooted in grassroots values and shaped by our upbringing in the vibrant farmers market community, we carry a rich family history in agriculture. This heritage instilled in us a deep appreciation for supporting local growers and consuming fresh, locally sourced produce.
At Mushroom Meadows, education is at the heart of our mission. We believe that fostering an understanding of fungi’s role in health and sustainability is key to creating lasting change. That’s why we actively engage with the community through workshops, farmers' markets, and online resources—making mushroom cultivation accessible and inspiring sustainable agricultural practices.
Over the years, our passion and dedication have allowed us to scale our operations while maintaining full control of the process—from spore to fruit. By managing every stage of production in-house, we ensure unmatched quality and consistency across all our products. Unlike others who outsource parts of their process, we take pride in growing every mushroom ourselves.
Sustainability is woven into every aspect of our work. We minimize waste, repurpose agricultural by-products into substrates, and transform spent substrates into nutrient-rich compost for our gardens and the wider community. We also share parts of our in-house production process with other local growers, helping build a stronger, more sustainable mushroom farming network.
Our commitment to environmental stewardship extends beyond our own fields. Through our partnership with Eden Reforestation Projects, a portion of every grow kit sale supports global reforestation—helping restore ecosystems and fight climate change.
Looking ahead, our mission remains rooted in community, sustainability, and innovation. We’re excited to expand our educational initiatives, grow our product line, and continue pushing the boundaries of what’s possible with mushrooms.
Mushroom Meadows isn’t just a farm—it’s a hub of inspiration, education, and community connection. Join us as we explore the endless possibilities of fungi and cultivate a healthier, more sustainable world—together.
